Worcester Probate and Family Court
I represented the paternal aunt of 3 minor children seeking an emergency temporary guardianship of them. The father of the children was serving a jail sentence at the Worcester County House of Correction and the mother was a heroin addict. Mother would use heroin and left dirty needles, spoons and other drug paraphernalia around the children. Mother would have the oldest child pick up the drugs from the seller at the end of the driveway at the location where they were residing. This was reported to the Department of Children and Families (“DCF”) and the aunt was informed that if she did not obtain an emergency guardianship within 24 hours, the children would be taken into foster care.
Result: The Worcester Probate and Family Court granted the emergency temporary guardianship of the paternal aunt within this period of time.
